Light Rail Maintenance Facility
Ottawa, ON

The Moodie Confederation Line, Light Rail Maintenance Facility (LMSF), is located adjacent to Highway 417 stretching over a kilometer long site at the West end of Ottawa’s new Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. The complex comprises 5 buildings and an outdoor substation. The facilities provide spaces for administration, train storage, light maintenance tasks such as seat and door repairs, replacing worn components such as windows and flooring and a wash bay to keep the cars clean. JSM was contracted to provide electrical design-assist services, complete electrical systems procurement, electrical construction, commissioning, and turnover.

 

 
 

Tacora Resources | Scully Mine
WABUSH, NL

JSM provided electrical and instrumentation services to Tacora Resources’ Scully iron ore mining and processing facility in Wabush, NL. Since 2018, when the idled mine was restarted, JSM has played an integral role assisting the company with their plant maintenance and construction program. JSM’s work has included upgrades to systems and infrastructure while supporting day to day production operations both at the mine site and in the processing facility.

CANOPY GROWTH FACILITY
St. John's, NL

In 2018, Canopy announced construction of a new, 230,000 SF production site in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The facility was designed to produce up to 12,000 kg of high-quality cannabis per year and serve as a hub for local research and development.

JSM was contracted to provide complete facility electrical services on a fast-track basis comprising state of the art fire, security and access systems, IT systems, 4000A 600V double-ended switchgear and distribution system, two 1.8MW generators and synchro gear, complete general and agri-grow lighting and control systems. The project was completed on time within a compressed nine month scheduled installation.

Core Science FACILITY, Memorial University
St. John's, NL

Memorial University of Newfoundland, Atlantic Canada’s largest university with nearly 20,000 enrolled students, constructed a new Core Science Facility to address the Science Faculty’s growth needs with a state-of-the-art research, laboratory, and teaching facility.

JSM was contracted to provide the 5-storey,  500,000 SF building with lighting and controls, power distribution, life safety systems, emergency and critical power systems, security and communications, broadband backbone fiber, IT infrastructure, general power, commissioning and turnover. The facility is a LEED Silver targeted project and has received Newfoundland's first Gold Seal certification by the Canadian Construction Association.

New ts2 735KV AC substation – LCP Project
CHURCHILL FALLS, NL

The Muskrat Falls 825MW Lower Churchill Project (including an extension to the existing extra high voltage 735KV substation) scope included all underground utilities, transformers, grounding, towers and aerial conductors, G.I.S, distribution and controls, site lighting, site-wide fiber backbone infrastructure, testing and commissioning and quality management.

The project was completed on time and within budget – achieving zero lost time/incidents in over 100,000 hours worked.
